BJP activists-the troublemakers in the Marathwada University- roadblock for Dalit’s and Bahujan’s
Aurangabad’s famous Marathwada University is no more a secure place for education for Dalit and other Bahujan students. Currently, BJP is the reason for every terror and subduing in the University. Many Dalit and Bahujan students, professors, employees, office bearers and student unions are being suppressed under BJP’s increasing dominance in the Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Since BJP has came into power in the Maharashtra state, the country and other states, one can see that BJP and RSS goons have aggravated their dominance in many educational institutes in the state. Those who try to oppose BJP & RSS are stifled and blocked. Nation has witnessed it already through the recent violent incidences happened in Hyderabad University, JNU University and Banares Hindu Vishwa Vidyapeeth. Aurangabad’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University is not an exception for BJP & RSS’s suppressive acts and University people are regular watcher of all this.
These repressive moves have been started since 2015 in Marathwada University. BJP came into the power in 2014 and right after that, BJP followers started the hegemony. BJP and RSS activists started to spread their supremacy in the University. That was the time when Gopinath Munde Rural Development organization was formed. University student leader Sachin Nikam told us that Gopinath Munde rural development organization was established at Aurangabad after his death. Marathwada University played a vital role in setting up of this organization. The University bear Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name but still 100 hectare land was given to Gopinath Munde Rural development organization. This was utterly an unnecessary help because today university itself is facing short of land to expand the development of University. This was not a sheer coincidence that the organization was formed and University entitled their own land so easily to them, the entire process was a full on graft case. It was a perfect plan by BJP government so that BJP-RSS wing can spread their wings in the university. As this was not enough, Sarjerao Thombre who is close to RSS was appointed in this organization. This was a serious matter.
BJP-RSS power games in the university were started right after the formation of this organization. There are government protocols to celebrate birth anniversaries of legendary people in the University and the list has been given to the University administration. Birth anniversary celebrations of those only listed is permissible. BJP’s founder Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s name is not in the list but it was celebrated under the programme arranged by ABVP, of course it had a backing of BJP-RSS activists in the university. Dalit organizations protested against it and halted the programme. To take revenge on this, BJP-RSS and ABVP goons had thrashed some Dalit students in chancellor’s cabin. Dalit activists also knocked those BJP activists suspecting they were MLA Atul Save’s followers and also attacked on his office. Now Dalit students unions have blamed that ABVP’s senior activist Gajanan Sanap’s name has been delisted from the 2 FIR’s written for the crime of attack and clashes.
University was again on the wave of clashes that started from the demand of setting up a statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the university in the campus. Dalit unions always have taken a stand that Dr. Babasaheb’s statue is the only appropriate statue in the university and no other statue should set up there in the campus. A resolution was also passed in the year 1995 with the same clause but Hindutva-inspired organizations deliberately cooked up debates over statue and a committee was formed to set up a statue of Shivaji Maharaj.
